Good morning from the CNN center in Atlanta. I’m Reggie Aqui. Thanks for checking in. Here is your Now in the News update.
On this day before the inauguration of the country’s first African and American president, the nation is honoring the memory of Martin Luther King Junior. President-elect Obama has often cited doctor King as one of the great influences in his life and he is certainly not alone. This is a CNN opinion research corporation for that you are looking at. And as you can see, two-thirds Americans say that doctor King has influenced their lives greatly or at least somewhat.
Moving on now is a busy day ahead for president-elect Obama. He and future first lady, vice president-elect Joe Biden and his wife are going to be donating their time to community service. That’s an honor of Doctor King’s legacy. After that, they had break the community service day. And tonight, Obama is going to attend three private dinners, one were honored the public service of republican senator John McCain.
A unilateral ceasefire declared by both Israel and Hamas is holding at least for now. Israel say they may completely withdraw from Gaza by tomorrow, and Israeli official say the withdraw could be complete before President-elect Obama takes of the office. Hamas says that Israel must be out in a week and also allowed humanitarian aid into Gaza. International donors are pledging money to rebuild Gaza.
Here is Zimbabwe now where talks under way. In a fresh effort resolving the long stand power sharing dispute, that will paralyze the African countries for months. President Roben Maganbei and operation leader Morgan Chamber are meeting in Zimbabwe’s capital. They are trying to settle this disputes in their power sharing agreement and former unity government. The presidents of South Africa and Monzonbi are also attending those talks.
The company that sells little debbies snacks is recalling its peanut butter crackers. That’s because of salmonella fears. No one is reported getting sick from those, but the government is warning not to eat foods with peanut butter. That’s until they can find out where the tensely peanut butter was made. More than 470 people and 43 have fallen ill from salmonella.

America, stepping into a new chapter of history today, Barack Obama has now become the nation’s 44th president. He was sworn in front of a crowd of about 2 million people today. President Obama’s inaugural address was appealed to begin what he called the work of remaking America. President Obama, along with vice-President Joe Biden, cattle down Pennsylvania Avenue to kick off the inauguration parade and open a new era of American government.
Word now from the CNN political team zone that a senator told CNN that senator tender Kennedy collapse in Capitol Hill launching for President Barack Obama this afternoon in parama no match about this condition at this point, but as you know, the mass stimulus package has announced a for a brain cancer. He wasn’t able to clear that ceremony apparently the emergency happening during the lunch.
Former President Bush and former first lady Laura Bush had to back home to Texas now, although they will be flying home to Texas on the same blue with vice-President’s aircraft they have many times before. The plane is no longer called “The First One”. It is called special air mission 28,000.Later thousands are expected to attend a very brief rally at mid-land Texas where the Bushes live with child and from there the Bushes will fly to Racon.
United Nation’s Secretary General Ban Ki-moon towards the destruction of Gaza today, he said what he saw was called heart-breaking. The arrival today a few days after Israel and Hamas had declared ceasefire. He is also getting a first attempt to look at the damage of UN camtown. It was hit during clashes last week. Israel had said that Hamas used the building as a cover to launch attacks, also Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Omar.
Two days before a US Airways Flight landed in the Hudson. Passengers on the very same plane said they heard loud benz on their flight. They say the crew announced the emergency landing and then decided to continue on the shally. US Airways has not confirmed any of this, however. Meanwhile, the airline sent 5000 dollars to each passenger on board 1549 for their lost luggage.

He was able to make it to that swearing-in ceremony; apparently the emergency happened during the lunch.

After a warwin of galaxy surrounding his inauguration, Barack Obama begins his first full day as President. Obama expects to meet with his economic team to discuss efforts to stimulate the struggling economy. He is also going to sit down with Pentagon officials to discuss plans to have US combat forces out of Iraq in 16 months. President Obama didn’t even wait a day to talk on Guantanamo. His administration has ordered a whole prosecutions for suspected terrorists held at the tension center. Obama ordered the government to prosecute the in Gutimo for 120 days. During that time, he wants his administration to review all the cases of suspected terrorists at the camp.
We’re also going to keep an eye today on Capitol Hill as Senator Hillary Clinton faces the comprimention vote as secretary of state. Republican Senator John Cornen seems here talking with Clinton to late the vote on her nomination, saying that he wanted more time to talk about former President Bill Clinton’s foundation. Yesterday, the Senate approved six of Obama’s members.
Now more on Senator Ted Kennedy. He is expected to be released from Washington Hospital this morning. As you probably heard, he suffered a seizure during the post inauguration luncheon for President Obama at the Capitol. He was later hospitalized. Doctors said the seizure was brought on by the tick. The 76-year-old Senator is bad in bling cancer. He was kept in the hospital overnight for observation.
Major concerns now about the US auto industry. These members are just out and Toyota finally overtook GM as the world’s biggest auto maker in terms of sales for all over last year. That’s a title GM has held for nearly 8 decades. Even worse than that, the GM Executive warns that the company will run out of cash by March 31st, if it doesn’t get that second install of government funds soon. GM is supposed to get 25 billion stolmen in a matter of days.

Caroline Kennedy won’t be replacing Hillary Clinton in the Senate. Kennedy has taken her name out of the running due to personal reasons. At one time, Kennedy has been concerned a runner for Clinton’s seat.
Another jump in jobless claims has massed a 27 year high. This week’s total 589,000, combined with another round of layoffs. This figure could really wave the stock market today. Microsoft announces that it is slashing to 5,000 jobs. Intel is cutting up to 600 positions and retailersWorken Soloma is cutting 1,400 positions by the end of this month.
During in his way, President Barack Obama is expected to hang down orders today on terror war conduct. Topping a list, the closing of the detention camp Guantanamo was in a year. According to a senior administration official and congrational aid, Obama will sign two other executive orders today. Those were banned to use of torture and review the treatment of terror suspects.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton starts her first full day at the State Department. Clinton was approved by the Senate 94:2 yesterday. Clinton was welcomed to the new job by state department employees this morning.
Today is the 34th anniversary of Row Versus Waiten. That is the Supreme Court decision that legalized the abortion. Tens of thousands of people on both sides of the issue are expected to mark the day with rallies and other events. There is a match for life event in Washington and an individual outside the Supreme Court supporting abortion right.
The Oscar nominations were announced this morning on Buffely Helas and the late Pifen Laigers are expected to earn the best supporting actor nomination for his work in the Dark Knight. Brad Peter’s <The Curious Case of Benjamin Button> was nominated for 13 academy awards, including the big one “Best Picture”. The Academy Awards will be handed out on February 22nd.

A political mystery finally solved. This morning, multiple Democratic sources tell CNN that New York governor has chosen the woman. You’ll see there congress woman Kerosone Jenny Brown will fill Hillary Clinton’s vacated senate seat. A Jenny represents New York’s 20th congress district and works on the Clinton’s 2007 campaign. Paterson is scheduled to make an official announcement at noon. Eastern CNN.com will take that for you when that happens.
President Obama meets with congressional leaders to talk about his economic stimulus package. House committees already approved cautions of 825-billion-dollar plan. The full house could vote on it next week. Not everyone is on board. You see the Republicans are working on their own alternatives. They want a better idea how the plan is going to impact jobs.
And speaking of jobs, motorcycle maker Harvard Deckbson is laying off more than 1000 workers, closing some facilities and consolidating others. Severe storms ripped down Spain Saturday leaving down trees, darkness and destruction behind. The winds are also responsible for several deaths across the country. Four boys were killed and nine others were hurt when hurricane force winds blow down the roof at a sports complex outside Basolona. Spanish media says 6 other people were killed in win-related accidents in the country.
President Barack Obama uses his first weekly radio address since he takes office to urge quick action on his economic stimulus plan. Obama says his plan would not only save tax payers more than 2 billion dollars, but would create the jobs and the income needed to jumpstart the economy.
“The plan will save and create more than 3 to 4 million jobs over the next few years and one to recognize both the paradox and the promise at this moment, the fact that millions of Americans trying to find work, even as all around the country there’s so much work to be done. That’s why this is not a short-term program to boost the employment.”
Republicans, though, not so sure about this plan, they are concerned about the 825-billion-dollar price take. House Minority leader John Mader says the Democratic back plan is full of poor berough spending that will not provide economic release Americans need right now.
“Their plan also provides government fund pay check despite of tax kids, for those who don’t pay income taxes. All to the plan will spend about 275 thousand dollar in tax payer dollars. For every new job and in, saddling each household with 6700 dollars in addition all did pay for by our children and grandchildren.”
The president meanwhile hopes to have the economic stimulus bill on his desk by February 16th.

Yow also led the 1988 women’s Olympic team to a golden medal. Kay Yow was 66 years old.

Shrilanka’s military says it has seize a key level strong hold forcing the out of their last military base. There have been no communications from rebels so far. The move could mean the government is on the verge ending one of the world’s longest and bloodiest civil war.
Authorities say at least ten mountain nears were killed at an avalanche at the spedresor in Turkey. So far, rescue workers have explored at least 7 people from under the snow. The group was hiking the area when the avalanche happened.
The aunt of court leader, David Cresh, is in custody today, charge in the stabbing death of Cresh’s mother. Bonny Careder haldman was found to stab to death at her sister’s house on Friday, that’s  about 170 miles north of Huston. The two women was the only when someone call 911. Police say there is no word on the motive.
Back in 1993, you may remember federal agents tried to arrest Cless for allegedly stop parlian explosive and weapons that he is outside of weako taxies. After a 51-day standoff, the complex was burned to the ground. Clesh, and about 80 of his followers died.
The witch tell eager newspapers two people were shot dead, 7 other wounded at a wake in which tall cancers. Investigators say the ceremony was going on in a private home when somebody started shooting from outside at home. It’s unclear how many shooters were involved and what motives may have been. The Wichita Eagle Newspaper is reporting two people were shot dead, seven others wounded at a wake in Wichita Kansas, investigators say the ceremony was going on in a private home when somebody started shooting from outside that home. Tens of thousands of additional job cuts were announced today by companies in a few different sectors. CNN’s persumer Robbin is now reporting. The cut piller is now shading 500 jobs, that comes on top of the 15,000 jobs because the company is concenlated last year. More job cuts are announced on Home Dippos, Brund, Lokstel and John Bier. President Obama is urging the Congress to pass the largest economic recovery package in history. About 2/3 of propose 825-billion-dollar plan is for new government’s spending, the rest for tax cuts. The deepening global financial crisis has taken a toll on Iceland. The Prime Minister now says the Iceland’s coalition government has collapsed, that move follows months of public protests and demonstrations. Just three months ago, the country’s currency stock market and several major banks also fell apart.
We’re getting a word that two US helicopters have crashed in Northern Iraq today. The military says that four American troops were killed. Iraqi officials say it happened 20 miles west of Kayakuke. The military still doesn’t know why the aircraft went down, but it says it appears enemy fire was not affected.

Two crew members who are on a Fedex cargo plane that crashed, well, they are being treated for minor injuries right now. The crash happened earlier this morning in Laba Texas and the Fedex spokeswoman says the plane skipped off wrong way in light freezing rain. That incident is still being investigated.
“Americans are not your enemy.” That according to President Barack Obama who delivers the message to reconlin to Muslim world in his first interview from the White House, the interview was on the channel outviere. Obama pledged to prove relations with the Muslim world, saying that he would give a speech from the Muslim capital on his first 100 day on his administration.
The economy is though, still No.1 for President Obama. He has to Capitol Hill today, he is going to be meeting with Congressional leaders from the Republican side to try and gain some support for his economic stimulus package.

He is accused of trying to sell President Barack Obama’s vacated senate seat. The governor has refused to attend the impeachment proceeding, instead he is doing TV interviews in the second day.
Kosen Jilo Brown, takes the senate oath today. The oath will be administered by Vice President Joe Biden. She fills the seated vacated when Hillary Clinton was swearing in as secretary of state.

Two crew members who are on a Fedex cargo plane that crashed, well, they are being treated for minor injuries right now. The crash happened earlier this morning in Lubbock, Texas and a Fedex spokeswoman says the plane skidded off the runway in light freezing rain. That incident is still being investigated.

After getting a key republican endorsement, the senate Judicor committee is finally getting to vote for Eric Holder. Senator Ellen holder says he will support Eric Holder’s confirmation for attorney general. Last week’s plan vote on Eric Holder was held up over questions about parten during the final days of the Clinton administration. Holder will become the nation’s first African-American attorney general if he is confirmed.
A witted winter storm to tell you about now. Accidents and alleges from Texas all the way over Talware and the North East is informed today. Storm already is blamed for at least 19 deaths. Power is out in hundreds of thousands of homes and many could be in the dark for days. Hundreds of schools and government offices are closed.
AAA is reporting. The national average price for a gallon of regular related is 1 dollar 84 cents, which is actually up 2 tents of the cent from yesterday. Forth day to have gas price above 2 dollars, the cheapest gas can be found in Viomin, right now, they’re paying 1 dollar and 50 cents.
