看了第一单元关于笔记的理论部分，了解了口译笔记的必要性、特点、方法、格式、各种符号；有了初步了解。
只是发现不同的书介绍的有些同样的符号代表着不同的意思，看来要选择最适合自己的那一套，不能盲目使用。

Day2
今天练习了VII. Note-taking Examples 和VIII. Note-taking Exercise的前半部分。
发现内容要比《实战口译》前面的联系要难，有些经济上的词汇不了解，而且一般的句子自己表达得也很拗口。
看了提供的译员答案后，发现她并没有都原原本本地按照汉语原话来，而是根据内容做了灵活的句式调整，有些地方还增加了一些内容。看来要真正理解原话才行。一边听一边还要解构意思，然后立马就要转换成另一种语言，还真是太不容易了。

Day 3

今天把第一单元朱镕基记者招待会的剩余下半部分联系完毕，还是老问题：笔记太仓促，有时候来不及仔细听原文，潦草，较混乱，缺乏层次；一些概念不知道相应的英文表达。

政府机构改革：institutional reform of the government
政府只能转变：transformation of the functions of government
政企分开：separate government administration from enterprises' management
着力推进：press ahead with greater effort

Unit 2 数字口译

课文讲的很详细
基数词：百、千；万、十万；百万、千万、亿；十亿及十亿以上
分数和小数
序数词
不确定数目：少于、将近、多于、介于、相邻数目、数十、数百

基数翻译主要搞清楚英文的单位词和中文的对应关系：
千：thousand
万：ten thousand
十万：one hundred thousand
百万：million
千万：ten million
亿：one hundrend million
十亿：billion
百亿：ten billion
千亿：one hundred billion
万亿：trillion

学了这么久的英语，刚知道原来billion在BrE里可以是万亿，相当于trillion，要表达十亿到万亿之间的就用million。可是这样太麻烦也太混乱了，而且一直都是用billion表示十亿，相信BrE现在也接受了这种用法，还是遵照一贯的用法吧。

Unit 3 Interpreting Idioms 习语口译

I. Definition of Idioms 习语定义
In narrow sense, they simply refer to the set phrases or clauses used in a language. Broadly speaking, they comprise all the idiomatic and special expressions in that language.

II. Methods of Interpreting Idioms
1. Borrowing（借用法）or Idiom for Idiom（以习语译习语）
中英文里有很多神形都相似的习语，可以直接用来翻译。
如：递水石穿 Constant dripping wears the stone；隔墙有耳：Walls have ears
2. Literal Translation （直译法）
有些习语直译也能很容易被理解。
如：易如反掌 as easy as turning over one's hand/palm —— very easy；削足适履 to cut the feet to fit the shoes
3. Paraphrasing or Free Translation （意译法）
有些习语有很强的原语文化特点，直译无法令人理解接受，就必须意译。
如：木已成舟，只好如此了！What is done is done, and cannot be undone；a fly on the wheel: 自以为有天大本事的人
4. Literal Translation Combined with Paraphrasing（直译加注法）
有些习语从表面意思较难理解，尤其是一些含有典故的，但如果丢掉了字面形象就失去了原来的生动性，则采取这种方法。
如：杀鸡给猴看 to kill the chicken to frighten the monkey —— to punish somebody as a warning to others
三个臭皮匠，赛过诸葛亮 Three cobblers with their wits combined surpass Zhuge Liang the mastermind —— Two heads are better than one

III. Principles for Interpreting Idioms
1. Principle of Interpreting Idioms with Idioms
e.g. Once bitten, twice shy 一朝被蛇咬，十年怕井绳
2. Principle of Retaining Image
e.g. 君子动口不动手 A gentleman uses his tongue, not his fists
3. Principle of Achieving Brevity
e.g.  天有不测风云，人有旦夕祸福 The unexpected always happens.

发现很久没做对话翻译（练的大部分是讲话内容），觉得生疏了很多。
